The Legend of the Coding Hero
An educational RPG that integrates programming questions into turn-based combat.

The project
A university game project developed with two peers, inspired by Pokémon-style combat. The goal was to make introductory programming part of an engaging gameplay experience for young students.
What I built
Combat and teaching systems
I developed the combat and teaching systems. Programming questions were tied to attacks: a correct answer allowed the attack to succeed; an incorrect answer caused it to miss and displayed the correct answer with an explanation.
Quest system
I developed the game’s quest system.
Item system
I developed the game’s item system.
UI/UX
I worked on the game’s UI/UX.
Development leadership
I led the three-person development team.
Design focus
Learning inside the loop
The learning mechanic sits directly inside combat. Players answer a question, see its effect on the attack, and receive explanatory feedback when they get it wrong.
